Caprice & Matt

Rain delay after rain delay, the weather just wasn’t cooperating with us when wanting to do a maternity session at the beach. The biggest fear I had was getting an email or text from Caprice telling me ‘too late, he’s here!’  Thankfully Baby Matthew stayed nice and warm and baked in mommy’s tummy and we were able to have a wonderful winter session. I must say, photographing both Caprice and Matt was one of the easiest sessions I had. They were both fun, playful and down to earth people. I love being able to capture the natural-ness (is that a word?) of people, and by far these two radiated it. Not only did Caprice have her glow (even at 9 months!), so did Matt, and that was just FABULOUS!

Today was nothing short from perfect. The weather may look gloomy, but NONE of that stopped us from having fun — even the life guard couldn’t stop us! ;) Caprice and Matt, thanks for the fun time at the beach, here are your teasers and I can’t wait to meet Baby Matthew!

Little Aiden

This little guy was full of smiles! I had to tell his mom that if we didn’t have to end the session I would just take photos til there wasn’t anymore sunlight! He was strong with great head control for being 4 months old that there were so many things I wanted to try with him. But nonetheless, I had to give him back to his mommy.

…sessions like that give me baby fever!

Sisterly Love

This morning was the most perfect time to spend with these two girls. We went to Balboa Park and just had at it. With it being so early in the morning, there was hardly anyone around and we can have all the fun we wanted.  We ran, we laughed we jumped all around. Did I mention this was my Sunday morning work out? :)

There is no stronger bond than one of two sisters. I am so grateful to have a forever friend that that understands me for who I am and laughs with me every step of the way. These two girls will be the same. The fun and love they have now will be something that they will carry on til they are old like me – and some. LOL.

Amanda, thank you for bringing your family out to play with me. I had a lot of fun getting to know your girls and capturing their individual personalities. I know you just wanted the girls in the photos, but I think the last teaser was a great family moment.

Meet Mickey, the elf

Mickey is a scout elf sent by Santa to watch over Keoni and Kayla to see if they’ve been naughty or nice. With a face like that, it worries me to think of what mischief he’s up to. I’m sure he’s up to no good, but heck, I’ll go with the flow! As long as he plays nice, so will I. ;)

The Houllis Family

The dates were set, and I was excited but also completely nervous. A friend and photographer, Shawn, and I agreed we’d do each others photos for the ‘annual family photo’. I was excited to finally be able to be IN photos with my family, yet nervous that I’m actually IN FRONT of a camera. Something I try to tell my clients is to not be nervous and just be ‘you’…so why is it now so hard to listen to myself? Now to also be taking photos of a photographer I truly have adored for years just makes it a double OMG! How can I ensure that my work will be awesome enough to compare to the level of caliber she can produce with her eyes closed and hands behind her back? I took a deep breath …. whew….and let the session take its course, as I always do. Let the family be who they are and just be the friend that’s there to capture the moment.

From being in her position (the photographer of the family), I know how rare we are in an actual photo. How when you look back at all the photos, you realize that the special moments you’ve caught have been ones without you. I made it a goal of mine to get as much Shawn and family I can get. I wanted it to be about how her love shines through to her kids and her hubby. She has such an amazing soul, the love just radiates through. It makes my heart melt to see the beauty and tenderness she shares with the most important people in her life.

Shawn, I hope I’ve reached the expectations you deserve. Thank you for believing in me.
