Baby Caleb

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”Dr. Seuss

Introducing Baby Caleb.

We Remember

My heart is heavy. Every time I think of what happened, I get the goosebumps. Today, marking 10 years, tears come to my eyes. I remember, the shock, the terror, the state of confusion.

September 11, 2001. I remember where I was. Southwestern College parking lot, listening to the radio. It was 7:15am PST, right before plane two hit. I was ignorant to truly understand what was going on. It was almost as if I was listening to old time radio where they were telling stories via the radio. It was completely surreal. Everyone at school was walking around like a zombie, lost and confused, just like

me. Classes were canceled, work was fixed on the news. There was nothing we can do but listen.

The lives were lost, the heroes that tried, the unity we became. I am thankful. For all who put their lives on the line day to day, thank you. With all my heart, with all my family’s heart, we have gratitude.

2011 Power Outage

So about 1.6 million people know what I talk about when I speak of what happen yesterday in San Diego County. This blackout happened around 3:30pm and stretched as far North as Orange County and as far East as Yuma, Arizona. Crazy! First things first, we are all safe and everyone is doing okay.

Key things to remember now, from a foodie standpoint, is to watch out what’s in your fridge. Visit this site to get a comprehensive list of what’s safe and what’s not. http://www.kogo.com/cc-common/mainheadlines3.html?feed=408120&article=9087368.

From a mommy’s standpoint. San Diego Unified School District IS CLOSED. For the safety of our children, it’s best we let them make sure everything is in working condition and anything consumed is safe.

Now, from a photographer’s standpoint….here is the shenanigans we were up to when going to bed. :)

First Day of Kindergarten

Wow. Just wow. With the San Diego Unified School District starting later than the neighboring districts, I can finally say Keoni started kindergarten! With him starting at this school for preschool, the transition was very easy for him. He was nervous in the morning, but it quickly melted as familiar faces and names came around.

It’s hard to believe that my little boy is now in kindergarten. With this being the starting point of his educational career, I hope it was a positive experience for him.

To mark this momentous occasion, I was already told by the K-man that I need to do a video, just like I did when he started preschool (seen here). So for now, I leave a photo and when I complete the video, I’ll post it too! :)

Oh yeah, and I’m also proud to report that on our first day of school follow up phone call (just as we did last year), NO TEARS WERE SHED! Woohoo!

Fall Sessions Available

Now that school has officially started, I think it’s safe to say we can start planning for the next big event. Do I dare say it….yup…FAMILY PHOTOS for the holidays. I’d be honored to be able to capture your family’s photos for all to see and for you to cherish. I have already booked some key dates, and please take note that I DO NOT do holiday sessions in December. I want to make sure we all leave plenty of time to get cards printed and mailed and shooting in December just cuts it too close.

Speaking of which, I know *I* need to find a willing photographer to dare the daring and do photos for me and my family. And as many photographer’s know, it ain’t easy photographing a photographer’s child ;) . No, but on the serious note. Even if you don’t see doing professional photos fitting in this years budget, please promise me you will at least set up a tripod and do some photos yourself. The years come and go so fast, I can’t believe I’m even typing about the…holidays… already! Man oh man!

Ok, I’m done for now before I start writing my Christmas list hehe.

What a 4 year old should know…

With it being the first day of school today, I wanted to share a very interesting article that I read online. As for myself, and many other parents, I worried if Keoni knew all he needs to know when starting kindergarten. I know of some school that expect children to be at certain levels in language, math and science. Don’t get me wrong, we do what we can in between playing, bonding and meal time, but you never know if it’s really enough, am I right? After reading this article, it got me thinking in a different perspective, and maybe it will do the same for you.
