Memorable Monday- Celebration

HAPPY MEMORABLE MONDAY!!!! This weekend was full of celebration. I love when everyone gets together to share an joyful occasion. This weekend we had two festivals to attend and three birthday parties! I tell you, I’M EXHAUSTED!

Let’s start with Saturday:

Birthday 1 – Auntie Lyn’s BBQ

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  We all got together at Fiesta Island to have a little barbecue and bonfire.  It was a lot of fun being able to just ‘camp out’ with our cars and tents and just enjoy the wonderful San Diego weather.  It was beautiful out, just a tad cloudy, nonetheless, everyone had a great time.  I wish we were able to stay for the bonfire, but for one, Kayla was over it, and second, I had my friends GIRLS ONLY birthday party to attend – this was birthday #2…no pictures though!

On to Sunday…

Festival 1 – The Art and Wine Festival in La Jolla

We were invited by a good friend, and neighbor, Walter Redondo.  I’m so glad he opened us up to this and we were able to show the kids all different kinds of art.  Of course I was looking forward to the photography, and WOW, they had such great talent, EVERYONE did.  I also came across a very cute booth that sells hair accessories, costumes, tutus and all the wonderful things for Kayla! haha.  Everything looked soo cute on her, they even took her photos in a couple of their work.  I can’t wait til they post it onto their blog!  I forgot to take a picture of the booth (as I was busy shopping haha), but you can find their great work at www.twinklebabycouture.com.

Festival 2 – Saint Michael’s Annual Festival

Shortly after the La Jola Art and Wine festival, we wandered on over to Saint Michael’s Annual Festival.  Much like a carnival, there are booths, games, shows, rides and best of all FOOD :) .  Keoni did awesome with the rides.  I was shocked that my little chicken butt actually rode something relatively scary AND didn’t shed a tear.  I praised him with tons of kisses and high fives to calm his nerves!  This mini festival was a great way to enjoy lunch and help them with their fundraiser :)

Birthday #3 – MyGym for Kolu’s 2nd Birthday

Whew, tired yet? OH WE WERE!  We quickly headed over to MyGym for Kolu’s 2nd birthday party.  What a COOL place!  If your kids are too small for Chuck E. Cheese, this place is PERFECT!  It’s like, well, a little gym where kids can jump, shout and play.  There were two hostesses that told stories, had the kids interact, sing, dance and just have a great time.  Finally, a place that understands :)

What a memorable weekend this was.  It’s just the way we like to spend our family time.

Memorable Mondays – Town Fiesta

This Saturday was the annual Gentri Fiesta.  Every year my parent’s town in the Philippines prays and gives thanks to their patron saint, Saint Francis of Assisi. Here we have morning mass, eat, karakol (A street dance done in homage to the patron saint and also as thanksgiving for a good harvest or to ask for rain usually performed by local residents during barrio  or town fiestas).  It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to see people from the town you haven’t seen in a long time.  Our family has been going for as long as I can remember.  Just seeing the karakol, as silly as some may think it is, just brings a smile to my face as I see my mom, my aunties and everyone else dance with laughter while the band plays the familiar song.   Here’s to another weekend of dance, music, food and family.

Why Choose Custom Photography

Have you ever tried to take your own family photos? As a photographer and parent, there always seems to be ONE person missing in pictures of my family, the person taking the photo (which is me).  We’ve tried setting up the camera on top of the stroller with a timer, we’ve tried the ‘arm-stretched-out-and-hoping-everyone’s-in-the-frame’ technique, but in the end we end up with this.

attempt

As much as I love the quirky, snapshot this is, it’s not one I’d hang on the wall – but maybe in the scrapbook. :)   So stop kidding yourself that your family photos are just fine, and find someone to help you.  Nothing is more important than capturing what’s most important to you. Many people I come across tell me,”I just can’t afford professional photos”.  I have to agree, it is an investment, but maybe this article, Why Choose Custom Photography, may enlighten you. :)

I enjoy capturing the random, quirky personality every family has.  I know, and you know, it’s life and it’s not picture perfect, and it’s ok.  Nothing makes a photo more personal than one that can make you laugh, smile and maybe even shed a tear.  When I do a session it’s not formal, sorry to say.  Everyone is dressed comfy (yet stylish), we will laugh, and have fun.  It brings out the natural smile in everyone. So leave the pressed shirts at home, and come in your favorite jeans and rockin’ shirt and let’s capture these precious moments!

Memorable Mondays

If you know my life, then you know that we are ALWAYS out and about on weekends (no matter how much housework there is)!  Since the busy work week keeps us pretty much in a routine with the kids, we always told eachother we want to spend quality time with the kids with no worries of what needs to get done (to an extent) on weekends.  So I decided to start ‘Memorable Mondays’.  This will recap what we did for the weekend/week.

This weekend was the Pacific Islander Festival Association’s 15th annual luau. Paul and I have been gonig every year with eachother since we’ve met – so that’s 8 years straight. It’s a great tradition we have and I love being to now bring my wee family to it as well.  This being Keoni’s 3rd time, he knew exactly where we were and what to anticipate. Kayla, however, was a little overwhelmed, but enjoyed herself nonetheless.  We typically leave bright and early in the AM (like 7am) to get prime parking and seating since over 50,000 people go every year.  Over the years we’ve mastered what to bring and how to drag it to the beach – cooler of drinks, snacks, blankets, mini tent for the kiddos, chairs, and SUNBLOCK) all thrown into the strollers, ha! At PIFA, theres great food, music, entertainment, vendors and a lot of fun.

Sneak Peak – Angela & Brett

Today I had the pleasure to photograph two very fun people, Angela and Brett…and two cute pugs! Nothing says LOVE ME like two cute smooshed faces with their toungues flapping in the air. Oh yeah, not to mention the cute, NO-STRETCHMARKED-BELLY! Yes, Angela, I’m jealous! :)   With San Diego’s beautiful weather, we couldn’t resist hitting up the local beach.  We couldn’t resist getting milkshakes, having a run-in with the law, oh yeah, and just having fun!

It was great spending the afternoon with you two, next time we’ll read the sign, right? :)   Here are your teasers!

Meet Baby Wibbles!

wibbles

So after visiting a couple pet stores, Keoni has found his friend. Meet the newest member of our family…Baby Wibbles aka Flower. lol. Ok, so I’m the only one that calls him flower. He reminds me of a skunk with the little white stripe on his nose.

Baby Wibbles is getting use to his new home, and his new person. Keoni loves him so much already. It’s nice to see those two ‘talk’ to eachother. I think they will be great pals! Yes, call me crazy for adopting a little baby guinea pig before Kayla’s arrival…I just couldn’t help it! ;)

A Boy's Pet

So this morning Hubby was fixing up the yard, and the two BOYS found themselves a new pet! Yup, without question, they picked up these little wiggly thing and started to play with it….YUCK!!! I could not IMAGINE holding it in my hand for as long as K did. At least he wasn’t scared! I, on the other hand, stayed inside! lol.

3 Remaining Survivors

So today the remaining Morga siblings reunite. Out of 7 kids, the surviving 3 are together, in one room, on one couch.

My grandmother (95yo), sits with with her two brothers (80yo & 75yo). Granted she can’t remember who anyone is…I think she had a little feeling that these two were extra special. She was full of smiles, and talked nonstop (though no one understood a word she said..and no one needed to).
