Twice as Nice

Yup, I’m lucky! There is no doubt in my mind that I am in the right profession. With being able to meet new people, make them smile, and capture memories all at once…there’s no better joy (besides ice cream)! I remember last month when I looked at the calendar and told myself that, “Man, this is going to be an INSANE two months.” As the month went on, and after each and every session, I find myself saying, “wow, this is the best time of year EVER!”

Seeing each family grow is such an AMAZING feeling, It’s so hard to explain. With today’s session and seeing the twins, Bryn and Blaine, two little ones I photographed over a year ago, made my heart melt. Seeing how much they’ve grown, how much each of their personalities have blossomed…wow! To top this off….as our fun session came to an end, the BEAUTIFUL Bryn voluntarily laid her two sweet lips on my cheek. It was so sweet, I almost teared up. Gosh I love this job!

Kellie and Steve, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the wonderful evening. I can’t wait to work on these photos! Here are your teasers!

Wissel Family

I LOVE FAMILY SESSIONS! The giggles, the laughs, the chasing, the silly noises and of course the beautiful family. Remember Baby Roman? Yup, this little guy is back for more and boy did I love making him laugh. He is such a smiley, happy baby, he was reminding me of the days when my little ones were as tiny and squishy he is. Then we have the oh-so-cute big sister, Scarlet. Full of energy and loves to explore. Her cute little voice giving me the low down on what she wanted to do, was so fun. As we ran around, jumped up and down, this controlled chaos is what I love most. Seeing everyone just taking a deep breath and seeing that this is life, our crazy life.

Fern, thank you again for coming out to Poway for the shoot. I had a blast being silly and capturing the moment! Enjoy your teasers.

Introducing Baby Caleb.

Fall Sessions Available

Now that school has officially started, I think it’s safe to say we can start planning for the next big event. Do I dare say it….yup…FAMILY PHOTOS for the holidays. I’d be honored to be able to capture your family’s photos for all to see and for you to cherish. I have already booked some key dates, and please take note that I DO NOT do holiday sessions in December. I want to make sure we all leave plenty of time to get cards printed and mailed and shooting in December just cuts it too close.

Speaking of which, I know *I* need to find a willing photographer to dare the daring and do photos for me and my family. And as many photographer’s know, it ain’t easy photographing a photographer’s child ;). No, but on the serious note. Even if you don’t see doing professional photos fitting in this years budget, please promise me you will at least set up a tripod and do some photos yourself. The years come and go so fast, I can’t believe I’m even typing about the…holidays… already! Man oh man!

Ok, I’m done for now before I start writing my Christmas list hehe.

Breaking out of the Mundane Routine

If you know me, you know how crazy busy our schedule is when it comes to weekdays and weekends. No matter what, there is always something going on. Now that Keoni has started soccer, we’re at the field every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today, however, I just wanted to have some fun time with them. No obligations but to have fun. Granted we did kick the ball around, but there were no drills, no coaching, just ‘keep-away’. I try my best to just enjoy the moment, but then when I look back, there are times I wished I brought my camera. Believe me, yes, this extra appendage does have it’s moments of staying at home. This was going to be one of those moments until dear hubby handed me the bag. So sure, why not? I’m so glad he did….

The Family Bed

When I found out that Marty wanted to do shots on the ‘family bed’, I couldn’t be any more excited. I’ve always LOVED being able to capture a family be who they are, and with this being in the comforts of their own bed, it got me giddy inside. I have to honestly say this entire session was based on inspiration. There were so many photos I wanted to create with my own twist, I didn’t know where to start. Luckily, this BEAUTIFUL family let me play to my hearts content.

Marty and Lory, thank you so much for inviting me into your home. Thank you for trusting my vision and letting me move furniture, balance on beds, and do my baby magic and get Alyssa to poop, ha! Enjoy your teasers!

Little Savannah

I couldn’t be any more excited to photograph a little 9 month old girl than I did today. Little Savannah has been quite the model (and traveler) as she was first photographed by a dear friend and photographer, Tamara Hart. When I received an email that the little miss was ready for nine month photos and was wanting to have them done by me was such an honor. Not only do I get my lens on a very cute cute baby, I was able to meet the mom that had been such a great friend to a friend of mine.

Elizabeth, thank you SO MUCH for coming down to San Diego just to have me play with you and your family. You are so much fun to be with and I hope this opens up more opportunities to show Tamara what she’s missing out on on the west coast! LOL. Here are your teasers.

When You Bring Sexy Back

I remember speaking with Dyana last year in regards to scheduling her family session. She wanted to lose ‘more’ weight first and she would let me know when she was ready. When I received her email, I was ecstatic to work with her and her family for a session. Suprisingly enough, she mentioned she was expecting and would love me to capture her growing family. I giggled because I remember when I went on my weight loss, and finally hit my goal, I also tested positive on a pregnancy test. See what happens when you try to bring sexy back? You are confident, bold and preggo! :))

Dyana, it was soOO nice to see you again and it was nice to get my camera on JD once more. It was a pleasure to meet your husband, and you guys make such a cute family! I hope you enjoyed our day at the beach, and hope you enjoy your teasers. I can’t wait to meet Baby Boy #2! :)

Following my Footsteps

It’s really amazing watching kids aspire to be like their parents. Every time I look at my little ones grow, it fascinates me how they mimic every word, every gesture down to every activity. This morning was a prime example of Kayla doing just that. I couldn’t help capture this moment, as I’m one very proud idol. :P

Look how great of an angel she’s getting of her big brother. Her higher than him to reduce the infamous double chin effect.

Now she’s ensuring proper exposure, making sure focal points are where they need to be. The smile on her face shows satisfaction and she’s ready to do more shots!

Whoa, wait. Is she doing a self portrait? Kayla, that’s too close to your eye.

Oh no baby! You don’t put the lens to your eye!!! That’s not a viewfinder!

Awe… you ok?! Was that flash bright?

Oiy my dear…what am I going to do with you?

I tried many times to show her the LCD, but either way, she preferred to be ‘like mama’!

…I’m still proud!

Baby Kiowea

Baby Kiowea couldn’t have been any more amazing today than if he was any younger. It’s funny how us photographers hear that a newborn baby has hit double digits in how many days old they are. It’s terrifying, and sometimes stomach wrenching. How would we get them to curl, what if they won’t go to sleep, or worse WHAT IF THEY ARE FUSSY?! With this little Island Boy being :gasp: 12 days old, I couldn’t wait to see what he had planned for me. I was beyond ecstatic how calm, mellow and peaceful Baby Kiowea was. He let me play to my hearts content. So much that sun set!

Imai and Walt, thank you so much for being able to come at such short notice. I had a great time having you over and I can’t wait to finish playing with your session. I had so many lined up to show you but for now…you get these! ;)
