It’s been WAY TOO LONG since my last blog post. I’m still here, don’t worry, it’s just been VERY crazy in my other life as a Marketing Manager as well as having two kiddos sick (gotta love the kindergarten cooties that get passed), as well as the most busy time of year for family sessions.

It has also been WAY TOO LONG since I’ve seen this beautiful family. Vanessa and I met over 10 years ago and truly haven’t seen eachother for YEARS. When she told me about wanting to do a family session, I was completely ecstatic. To be able to catch up, hang out and enjoy an afternoon at the beach is one of the best things I love about my job. I told Vanessa that I still had the family photo of when Lania was born. It’s crazy that I think I’ve only seen Lania only a handful of times since that photo was taken. I promise to bring it with me the next time I see you, Vanessa!

Chris, Vanessa and Lania, thank you so much for all the laughs and fun we had at the beach. It was great to enjoy the simple things in life and not worry about anything else around us. Enjoy your teasers.

Time has been flying so fast, I don’t even know where to begin. From not even posting a single picture from our Maui trip (BACK in the beginning of JUNE), to Keoni’s 5th birthday (LAST week), I feel like I’m failing at this whole blog thing. I hate to think I don’t have the time, because heck, there is 24 hours in a day, but man oh man, I seriously don’t have the time.

I can truthfully blame the following (in no particular order – well maybe because that’s what comes first to mind):
Facebook and all it’s interestingness
Pinterest and all it’s acebookingness (ha, sorry, yes I’m sleepy and tried to make a funny when i noticed my last descriptive word)
Family time, because yes, they deserve some ‘Mommy time’, not the I see her in her office time
School is back in session, for me. Yeay me and furthering my education!
…and lastly, I feel I lost some followers for my MIAness and no one would be reading this ANYWAYS.

I want this Blog to be a place I can run to when I have something exciting to say. I want it to be a place where my fellow peers, friends and family and anyone in between go to find out what’s going on about me and get to know me better if they don’t already. I want to make that digital presence to help make another smile, simple as that. ha! Now…how can I make this more interesting? That’s the question.

I will vow to post more (sheesh, I still have a newborn session to post), vow to laugh on here more, and well, share more. So at least show me some love to let me know you’re reading? HA! So here’s my share, because a post isn’t a post without a photo. xoxo

I’ve known Kiana for over (wow) 15 years and she always has a bubbly, uplifting spirit. Even though we haven’t seen each other in over 10 years, just talking to her on the phone made it feel like we never missed a day. When we were chatting yesterday, she reminded me of how we first started our photography venture. Oh the days of film! LOL. Kiana was one of my first ever models, poor girl! From playing with shutter speeds to studio lights, she had to endure my goofiness behind the camera. If only I could find those negatives! ha!

Kiana, my dear. I’m so excited to reconnect with you and be part of this very special time in your life. It was a pleasure to meet your husband. You two are just the cutest together. He truly makes you smile! You are such a cute preggo, it almost makes me hate you! I’M KIDDING! Here are your teasers! I know I said 4, but I couldn’t help it! :)

It’s funny how us photographers hear that a newborn baby has hit double digits in how many days old they are. It’s terrifying, and sometimes stomach wrenching. How would we get them to curl, what if they won’t go to sleep, or worse WHAT IF THEY ARE FUSSY?! With this little Island Boy being :gasp: 12 days old, I couldn’t wait to see what he had planned for me. I was beyond ecstatic how calm, mellow and peaceful Baby Kiowea was. He let me play to my hearts content. So much that sun set!

Imai and Walt, thank you so much for being able to come at such short notice. I had a great time having you over and I can’t wait to finish playing with your session. I had so many lined up to show you but for now…you get these! ;)

A friend and photographer, Shawn, and I agreed we’d do each others photos for the ‘annual family photo’. I was excited to finally be able to be IN photos with my family, yet nervous that I’m actually IN FRONT of a camera. Something I try to tell my clients is to not be nervous and just be ‘you’…so why is it now so hard to listen to myself? Now to also be taking photos of a photographer I truly have adored for years just makes it a double OMG! How can I ensure that my work will be awesome enough to compare to the level of caliber she can produce with her eyes closed and hands behind her back? I took a deep breath …. whew….and let the session take its course, as I always do. Let the family be who they are and just be the friend that’s there to capture the moment.

From being in her position (the photographer of the family), I know how rare we are in an actual photo. How when you look back at all the photos, you realize that the special moments you’ve caught have been ones without you. I made it a goal of mine to get as much Shawn and family I can get. I wanted it to be about how her love shines through to her kids and her hubby. She has such an amazing soul, the love just radiates through. It makes my heart melt to see the beauty and tenderness she shares with the most important people in her life.

Shawn, I hope I’ve reached the expectations you deserve. Thank you for believing in me.

Keoni’s BIG day…FIRST DAY OF PRESCHOOL.

I can’t believe how fast time has passed us by. I remember the night when I woke up Paul and told him, get ready, this little man wants out. Now this little man is 4 and starting preschool. It hurt me emotionally to see this, yet I am proud. He’s grown up so much, it just amazes me. He is such a great brother, Kayla will miss him while he’s gone. But it’s okay, it’s only 3 hours. They will both get through it.

Dropping him off was difficult. I can’t say he loved it and left. He didn’t want us to leave, he kept running to the car and he would just stay quiet if anyone would speak with him. I hate sneaking out without saying goodbye, but we had to if we wanted to get to work. I couldn’t wait until 12:20 hit, and that I would get that phone call and when I did, I was soOo excited to hear his day. First words that came out of his mouth over the phone….

“Mama….I CRIED A LOT!!!!”

If I can find out, I want to know. When I found out a middle school friend of mine was keeping the gender of her baby a surprise, I had a flashback (times 2) remembering how waiting 20 weeks was already LONG enough. With Chrysty being ALREADY 34 weeks pregnant, she’s gone 14 weeks longer than I had and is quite content not knowing! I’m not surprised, though. From knowing her since we were…wow..13 years old, I know how strong willed and determined she is. When she sets her mind to something, she achieves it. She has the beauty and the grace that radiates confidence. Now married to an amazing husband, this next step in her (and their) life will be graciously approached and handled perfectly!

Chrysty and Jeff, CONGRATULATIONS on the baby to come! It’s simply amazing seeing all of my friends having babies…MAKES ME SO GIDDY! :)) I couldn’t JUST choose 3 or 4, so enjoy all 6 of your teasers!

LOL. He was so tiny, it reminded me of when my little girl was born. Little Fabian was so good to me, he barely made a peep the entire time I was there. With him being a mere 7 days, he was such a superstar. This born model didn’t need any breaks, fell right asleep and posed himself most of the time. He’s very calm and collect, just like his dad.

Jorge, it was so nice to see you again, all grown up now! :) It was great to meet your wife and your little one. Enjoy your teasers!

It wasn’t until now that I can sit down and actually surf the net. LOL.I don’t even know where to start!

After months and months of deciding if we should go to Vegas for a wedding, Thursday night, we decided on a ‘No’. Then at 3pm, Friday, our minds changed! LOL. So once we both got home from our 9-5s, we packed up the kiddos and the SUV and we were on our way. What a fun wedding it was. Great food, great times on the strip, and of course, great traffic on the drive home. In the end, it was well worth the last minute change.

The following week, my beautiful daughter turned one. In my culture, first birthdays are HUGE! So Saturday was filled with food, astro jump, food, lei making giveaway, food, pinata, chocolate fountain, desserts, and so much more. LOL. Saturday we also welcomed Kayla to a new world. So what better way to celebrate such an important part of Kayla’s life than with family and close friends!

All in all, it was fun, memorable and truly fantastic. (Um.can you tell I am so exhausted, I don’t know what to write? LOL). So let me just post two photos. One of Kayla’s 1st birthday invite, well the front at least and one from her baptism.

Granted I have two kids of my own, It’s just amazing to see how much we’ve grown in the many many years we’ve known each other! Jasmine is such a CUTE CUTE CUTE little girl, I couldn’t stop taking photos of her. She was so good to me at a mere 5 days old.  I’d have to say, 5 days old is my FAVORITE age to photograph.  I know it’s hard to expect someone to come over and invade the house for a couple hours, but I promise you, if you were to want pictures as beautiful as Jasmine’s, it’s a total must!

Jason, Frances…THANK YOU SO MUCH for having me over on Sunday! It was great to see you both and I’m soOO happy to have met Baby Jasmine.  I can’t wait to see her grow and become as beautiful as you Fran (you too Jason!)! :)  Enjoy your teasers!
